Latin Celebration
Salsa, Latin Jazz and Smokin' Dance Music
I think to myself that this is a great dance band not looking for the usual pop sound. They've got that traditional Cuban itch that comes from a horn-rhythm heat so popular today. - Ben Ohmart - LA Ritmo Magazine
A Latin band led by a Polish guy? Defnitely not typical, but don't count Joe Kazz's Latin Celebration out until you hear them! The band's traditional Cuban-style dance music is as authentic as anything you'll end in New York City or anywhere else, and that's what really matters, right? So, what makes Latin Celebration different from the other Latin bands out there? The group actually plays danceable Latin Jazz. Most Latin Jazz bands don't take dancers into consideration when playing, and most Salsa dance bands don't emphasize the improvisational aspects of jazz that make the music so rich and interesting. Latin Celebration combines the best of both worlds, playing great instrumental dance music filled with exciting improvisation from all of the musicians in the band. This very versatile band also plays swing!
Founded in Ithaca, New York in 1999, Latin Celebration is made up of trumpet, saxophone, trombone, piano, bass, and three percussionists. As an all- instrumental group, you'll catch the horns playing all of the melodies in this band. The group's assortment of music cover all of the classic Cuban styles, including mambo, son, cha cha cha, bolero, and danzon. Their repertoire is made up of both original material, as well as popular cover songs by Latin music legends such as Tito Puente, Poncho Sanchez, Cubanismo, and Mongo Santamaria.
